CORPORATE SUN
Today, I chose stillness. After a long day of work, I went to watch the sunset, an unimaginable luxury in a city like Mumbai. A place where every minute, a deal is closed, a dream is born, and people race against time, chasing trains and deadlines. To pause and simply stand by the sea and watch the sun dissolve into the horizon, felt like pressing pause on a life that never stops moving. It felt like stealing a moment from time itself.
Right in front of
my eyes, the blue of Google Docs faded into the sky. The trees around me looked
like a green Excel sheet, each leaf a different row, carefully tracking nature’s
progress. Birds hopped from branch to branch, like moving data points in an
endless workflow—constantly shifting, constantly working.
The sky changed colors, just like moods at the office. The day starts bright and fresh, but as tasks pile up, another layer of emotions unfolds. With every conversation, every new demand, expressions shift just like the sky melting from golden yellow to deep, exhausted purple. Strangers on the beach felt like unread emails, interrupting my focus every time I tried to capture the perfect shot of the sun, sand, and sky. The scent of food stalls lingered in the air, teasing me the way my lunchbox does during endless Zoom meetings. How does one concentrate with such distractions?
And while I Stand barefoot on the shore, the waves kissed my feet just like five-minute breaks between meetings, and just then a sudden breeze ran through my hair, bringing me back to reality..... I looked at the sun, glowing in all its golden-orange brilliance, slowly making its way down. That’s when it hit me.....maybe the sun is just another employee wrapping up its shift, signing out for the day. The sky is its grand office, the waves its never-ending to-do list. But unlike us, it doesn’t complain, doesn’t resist. It sets with grace, knowing it will rise again just as beautiful, just as unstoppable. Maybe that’s the lesson. The work never really ends. But if the sun can take a moment to disappear, to rest, maybe we should too.
Anmol! Nature must be proud of you to think about her with such wisdom!
