NEVER FREE

Today, I met a glass of water. People say water has no shape, but this one did. It carried something—something we don’t usually notice. A quiet confusion, a hint of unrest. Life had, perhaps, taught it a new lesson.

Curious, I spoke to her.

She told me she wasn’t always water. Once, she was just a tiny seed. And as she grew, she would often look at the rivers, the waterfalls, the vast oceans, and dream— One day, I want to be that. She envied the way water flowed, free and fearless, touching mountains, valleys, and the world beneath. The thought of becoming anything, of never being tied down, fascinated her. So she prayed and the universe listened....... One day, she became water. Oh, what a feeling! Gravity no longer held her back. She could move, drift, dance with the wind. Life was exciting! But There was no certainty. One day, she was a part of the ocean; the next, she was lost in a dirty drain.

Dissatisfied, she started looking for a way out. That’s when she noticed something—the water in the dam. It was clean, contained, protected. Unlike the wild, unpredictable rivers, this water had a place, a purpose. "This is where I belong," Ah, pure, safe, untouched. Finally, she felt at peace.

But as time passed, she realized something. The very walls that kept her safe also trapped her. The freedom she had once longed for was nowhere to be found. She was no longer lost, but she was also no longer free. And just as this thought sank in, a notification popped up— EMI deducted.

Someone once called it corporate water. She found it funny then....not so much now.

After all, water does cooperate—with its flow, its surroundings, its fate.

So do we.
