BRIDGET JONES IS A CUTIE

After a really long time, I finally sat down to watch a movie today. And not just any movie—a rom-com because if there’s one thing that truly defines my hopeless romantic soul, it’s my obsession with love and so there are movies that entertain.....Movies that inspire and then there’s Bridget Jones’s Diary—a movie that made me feel seen, exposed, and slightly judged.

The story revolves around a woman trying to find love, which is basically every girl that has ever existedWatching Bridget stumble through life, love, and public embarrassment felt like watching a highlight reel of my own existence....except she had Hugh Grant and Colin fighting over her, while I have Swiggy notifications reminding me of my only true love: foodShe starts the new year full of hope, wine, and unrealistic expectations—vowing to lose weight, quit smoking, and find love..... but just like BMC.... nothing got delivered.

Bridget doesn’t just make mistake she professionally excels at them. And that’s what makes her so iconic. She is the reminder we all need: that it’s okay to be imperfect, to stumble but most importantly She reminded me of how beautiful imperfection is....Like how no two leaves on a tree are the same, yet together, they create something whole and stunning. Like how the moon is never fully complete—some nights it’s a little too full, other nights it’s barely there—yet it shines the brightest, in all its phases. Like how handwritten notes, with all their scribbles and misspellings, feel so much more heartfelt than a perfectly typed text. Like how the "messy hair" look is an actual aesthetic now, proving that perfection is overrated and maybe that's the reason more imperfect art makes it to art exhibition.

And so maybe that’s why we need more real characters like Bridgetwomen who don’t fit the “ideal” mold, who have insecurities who are imperfect....Honestly I am so tired of seeing perfect characters on screen that Bridget feels like a fresh air.

So If you haven’t watched Bridget Jones’s Diary yet, please watch...
I promise you’ll laugh, cringe, and maybe even tear up a little—but by the end of it, you’ll be smiling, feeling validated, and probably reconsidering some of your life choices.

PS - Mark is a Cutie.
