LIL BOAT
I spent my entire day with my 6-year-old niece today… she is the most adorable creature to exist—my lil samosa! ❤️Whenever she is around, I try to be as responsible as I can.... we often read together, I teach her little things and She loves watching random kid vlogs on YouTube, so I try to introduce her to sensible videos, good cartoons.
Today was no different. We ate food, played for a bit, watched videos, and even went to the Gurudwara together and if you’ve ever been to a Gurudwara in the evening you know the best par....the warm, sweet kadha prasad. I started eating my prasad when I noticed that Shainreet (that's her name) just sitting there, holding hers..I asked, "Why aren’t you eating? And I was no where expecting this answer....she smiled and simply said , "I will take this home for Mom."
If that surprised you just like it surprised me, wait—there’s more!
When we got to her house, we both sat down for dinner....I took my first bite without a second thought. But right next to me, she closed her eyes, prayed and then started eating. It hit me. Here I was, trying to teach her things, and instead, she was showing me something I should have been doing all along.
It’s like you think you’re the river, guiding a little boat along its journey… but then, the boat surprises you by showing you a new, unexpected route. Does the river feel bad? No. In fact, the river feels blessed to have such a boat around.
So, lesson learned..... I’m definitely closing my eyes in gratitude before my next meal.
